Of all the tourists, only my guests are allowed to visit the church outside of the very unreliable opening times. It is a special experience to admire the flock of 749 red clay golden plovers that cover the wall behind the altar. All the birds are unique because they were made by the residents of our place.

Discover Plokkfiskur – A Traditional Icelandic Dish
Help Us Finish and Plate Plokkfiskur – Then Enjoy It Together
Plokkfiskur is one of Iceland's most traditional comfort foods. It is a creamy fish stew made with flaky white fish (usually cod or haddock), potatoes, onions, butter, milk, and a light béchamel-style sauce. Traditionally, it was prepared to make good use of leftover fish and potatoes, but today it is a popular dish in homes and restaurants throughout Iceland. Plokkfiskur is often served with rúgbrauð (traditional Icelandic rye bread) and butter.
How we prepare Plokkfiskur together: Together we prepare the creamy sauce in which the fish and potatoes, already cooked by us, are gently combined and seasoned with traditional Icelandic flavours. We then plate the Plokkfiskur together. As a side dish, we slice traditional Icelandic rye bread (Rúgbrauð), serve it with butter, and enjoy the meal together.
With the food, we offer fresh Icelandic water to drink.
Take the recipe home and recreate this traditional Icelandic dish yourself.
