Boat - Trip to Vigur

The beautiful island there you can see puffins, eithers and other sea birds and get information about the time when people still lived there.

On the island you get a guided walk and coffee/tee and a taste of traditional food.

There is always something charming about small islands, and the harmony of thousands of birds in Vigur completes the beautiful landscape. 

Over the years, the island Vigur has earned itself a great reputation and is therefore a must on any itinerary. Its five friendly inhabitants welcome you with their relaxed easy manner and somehow, one feels that time stands still in Vigur.

After a half an hour boat ride from Ísafjörður, you take a leisurely walk around the island. It´s a perfect opportunity to see the abundance of birds in their natural environment. The island is a home for thousands of birds e.g. eider ducks, arctic terns, puffins, black guillemot and more. The only windmill in Iceland is located in Vigur. Refreshments are served by the farmer’s family.

Post a card from Europe’s smallest post office while sampling traditional Icelandic cake, as well as browsing arts and crafts on sale in the shop.

Note: Not suitable for physically disabled nor for wheelchairs as it includes a walk on uneven paths.
